The Science of Screening

All of our screening products are based on sound science.  Not guesswork or myths or magic wands – but a thorough understanding of physics, fluid dynamics, mechanical forces, slot tolerances, rotor clearances, and the nuances of pulp suspensions.

Then the creativity begins.  How can we apply these scientific facts to design cylinders and rotors that screen out targeted contaminants more efficiently, more precisely, more consistently, and while using less energy, than anyone else?

Energy
We have found that optimizing the wire profile shape significantly reduces the Thickening Factor (T). A lower T results in higher throughput and better runability. The associated reduction in rotor speed can reduce energy consumption without diminishing efficiency or capacity.

Capacity
Reducing wire width opens the area of the screen cylinder without increasing slot size. The result is a screen with significantly higher capacity and no loss in efficiency.  We have the largest selection of narrow wires available.  Better slot precision means fewer undersize slots that can plug with pulp.

Efficiency

Wire width and profile shape are selected for maximum contaminant removal.  The cylinder's open area determines the slot velocity, which influences the removal of deformable debris (stickies). Better slot precision means fewer oversize slots that might allow contaminants to pass through.  Smaller slots provide more complete removal of oversize debris.
