POMlock™

POMlock3The POMlock™ – Suction Leg Sealing unit is a compact channel for collecting the discharge from suction box drop legs and other suction waters normally transferred to a sizeable sealing pit. The drainage from the top former is also fed to the POMlock™. In the POMlock™, some of the free air in these return flows is removed; the flow is stable; and irregular patterns in consistency are avoided. The option exists for dividing the collector channel into multiple sections into which the white water can be diverted according to its consistency.

POMlock™ C

POMlock™ C is a closed type Suction Leg Sealing unit. It consists of a closed collector-manifold in combination with one or two CycloPipe™ vessels, for removing air. Each CycloPipe™ is connected to a POMp™ degasser or to the process pump.

  1. Individual drop leg pipes are brought to a common collector.
  2. Waters from the collector are led to the CycloPipe™ — a narrow cylindrical vessel into which the water is fed tangentially.
  3. In the CycloPipe™ large air bubbles are removed centrifugally from the return flows.
  4. The design of the collector is readily adapted to different configurations of the wire section on the paper machine.

POMlock™ C is compact and its closed construction provides a neat solution for handling suction waters.

POMlock™ M

POMlock™ M consists of a series of small reservoirs that discharge into an open channel. This construction permits visual control of the various dewatering devices. The water from the channel is fed via a small header to either POMp™ degassers or to a process pump.

 Main features:

  1. Open design allows the discharge from the individual reservoirs to be observed. The build-up of dirt in the reservoirs is prevented by bottom discharge.
  2. Smaller diameter drop-leg pipes can be used.
  3. The pattern and volume of flow in the channel is stable.
  4. The discharge from the channel is fed via a small header to the POMp™ or the pump.

This open-type POMlock™ allows the machine tender to clearly observe the operation of each suction box and thereby control dewatering.

POMlock™ SPLCS

The POMlock™ S is a modified POMlock™ C, for use when building height is not sufficient for a normal drop leg. It also provides process suction on paper machines that do not have basements beneath them. By placing the POMlock™ under vacuum, the vacuum level in the suction boxes can be made independent of the atmospheric head. The CycloPipe™ is connected to the last suction box, which is generally operated with the highest vacuum.
