FINEBAR® MiniSegmentS™

The Finebar® MiniSegment™ is the latest advancement in diffusion bonding refiner plate technology. The principle of the MiniSegment™ is to replace only the working surface of the plates. As a result, the use of these high performance components becomes much more cost effective.
 
MiniSegment™ installation is accomplished through use of an adapter plate which is bolted to the refiner plate mounting surface using the existing bolt holes. The MiniSegments™ are then bolted to the adapter plate as illustrated above.

In addition to the cost advantage, these smaller segments weigh only a fraction of the traditional plates they replace which makes them easier and, more importantly, much safer to handle. A refiner plate segment for a 46” DD refiner can weigh as much as 50 pounds (23 kg). In comparison, a MiniSegment™ for the 46” DD weighs less than 12 pounds (6 kg). This not only makes it easier to position while bolting it onto the mounting surface but also minimizes the risk of personal injury during plate changes.

MiniSegments™ can be applied to any single disk, double disk or Tridisk refiner. As with all Finebar products, plate patterns are designed based on the specific application needs.
